What is my intention?

My intention is, first of all, to draw the viewer in.  Of course I love it when someone says my work is beautiful— that they want to take it home and put it on the wall.

My second intention— to cause a spark of imagination and emotional response – allowing new interpretations and personal connections to the natural world.

As an artist, I strive to bridge my painting with my concern for the environment. My hope is that by connecting the viewer with the subject, we will be reminded of our interdependence as stewards of this planet.

“They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth.” —Henry Beston, The Outermost House
