Boulder’s Open Studios, 2015
I’ve recently applied and been accepted to Boulder’s Open Studios for 2015. This will be my fifth year in joining this ” MUST DO” event that has become a Boulder Tradition over the past 20 years!
Opening my studio for two weekends every October has been a fun and interesting event for me. It provides an incentive to get some new work done and the opportunity to reconnect with other artists as well as the patrons who come to see me and my work. I always do demonstrations and have activities for the kids who want to try their hand at stenciling and drawing while their parents look around. I really enjoy answering questions and talking about my art with the curious visitors — many of them are artists themselves.
Opening my studio takes a lot of work and preparation but the rewards are many: setting and meeting goals, making connections, and, just as importantly, making sales!
I’ve finished some new paintings including a magpie that will be my visual on the Open Studios map. It’s titled “Magpie’s Fine Balance” and I’ve inserted a cropped version of it at the top of this post.
